Aurora made some FANTASTIC kits! Part of me has always wanted to start a collection of them.. I just never had the money for the mint in box vintage issue kits, and now, I kinda dont have the space for them!
However, on ebay the other day, I did manage to get my ALL TIME FAVORITE kit, in built up, vintage form.. THE FORGOTTEN PRISONER OF CASTLE-MARE!
I always loved this kit, which tells the tale of a prisoner left forgotten in some ancient dungeon! The version I just got isnt the first release but the 1969 rerelease in the FRIGHTENING LIGHTNING glow in the dark series!
The model is buily up, and by the yellowing of the glue, I would guess this is the original 60's build.. It doesnt even glow anymore.. haha
I was trying to find an unbuilt version of the polar lights reissue, to build and paint.. But this one seemed to have more character to me... SO I chose it instead (same price on ebay)
In its future, I think Im going to take it apart, reassemble it a bit better, and give it a great paint job!
Anyone else collect or have a favorite kit?

I did manage to get my ALL TIME FAVORITE kit, THE FORGOTTEN PRISONER OF CASTLE-MARE! Do you know the story behind the Forgotten Prisoner kit? My favorite Aurora? The long box Creature that Bill painted for me! You can see a pic of it on his site.

On is that it is based on the Poe story (The title escapes me) the other is that it was based on a Tale from FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND.... (I guess that tale may have also been based on the Poe story!) haha

. . . the other is that it was based on a Tale from FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND.... Yeh, that's kind of it. Aurora and FM came up with the kit (I think the FM logo was on the original boxes?) and they ran a short story contest in FM to come up with a back story for the prisoner. If I could remember which issue the winning story ran in, I'd scan it for you.
